Human Trafficking Investigations

The Revere Police Department – Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is comprised of investigators with a specific expertise in investigating commercial sexual exploitation and involuntary servitude.  The unit works alongside Revere Police personnel assigned to the FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force.

The Revere Police Department employs a multi-disciplinary team and victim-centered approach.  We work in collaboration with Federal, State, Local law enforcement, and prosecuting agencies who work with survivors and non-governmental organizations and partners to identify victims and convict their traffickers.

What is it?

Human trafficking, also known as trafficking in persons, is exploitation based.  It is a crime that involves compelling or coercing a person to provide labor or services, or to engage in commercial sex acts. The coercion can be subtle or overt, physical or psychological.  Exploitation of a minor for commercial sex is human trafficking, regardless of whether any form of force, fraud, or coercion was used.

FAQs

My house was broken into and an initial report has been filed. Now what do I do?

The first thing you need to do is obtain a copy of the report. The report will have all pertinent information, including the detective assigned to the case. The detective assigned to your case will contact you. If you would like to contact them, please email or call your detective from the list above.

I've now realized that more property was stolen than I originally reported. What do I do?

Victims should complete a Stolen Property Inventory Sheet and list any additional items stolen. You must have the incident case #, which is located on the top left corner of the report. This form should then be submitted to the records department.

My car was broken into and a report was filed, will a detective be contacting me?

Currently the Detective Bureau does not respond to car breaks. The Detecives are notified of the crime, and the intelligence is used to track trends and "hot spots" in the City. Once we have identified a "hot spot", i.e. area where a rash of thefts have occured, we then take proavtive measures to identify and apprehend the suspect(s).
